Sure, we can squeeze in a manicure or a solo coffee. But what if the real fuel comes from our friendships?

Recently, I went to the first-ever Shop TODAY Stages Live event in Long Island City—a joy-filled day of panels, pop-ups, and powerful conversations with viewers, TODAY personalities, and even a few celebrities.

I got to catch up with my longtime pal Bobbie Thomas, the beauty expert we’ve all come to know and love on the TODAY Show. She’s been through so much—widowhood, solo parenting, reinvention—and yet she shows up with grace, humor, and wisdom. We got to talking, and one simple truth stuck with me:

Me time isn’t what we’re craving.
We can get our nails done, squeeze in a workout, make time for a solo coffee. That’s manageable. We can boss around our schedules to fit those things in.

But what’s much harder, and infinitely more nourishing?
Girlfriend time.

That deep connection with other women—the laughter, the shared stories, the mutual understanding. That’s what charges our souls. That’s what we need more of. And yet it’s the first thing to go when life gets busy.
